We founded Haveaspot because we were passionate about helping community spaces. We all had experience working with community venues in our spare time, and we saw firsthand the challenges they faced in attracting bookings.
The current solutions were complicated and expensive. They required community spaces to run their own website and integrate a third-party booking system. This was a major undertaking for organizations that were mostly run by volunteers with limited time and expertise.
We also knew that community spaces were often struggling to compete with commercial venues. Commercial venues had the resources to invest in marketing and SEO, which gave them an advantage in attracting bookings.
We wanted to create a platform that would make it easy for community spaces to list their venues and take bookings. We wanted to provide them with a level playing field so that they could compete with commercial venues.
We also wanted to make it easy for people to find and book community spaces. We knew that people were increasingly using online platforms to find and book venues. We wanted to make sure that community spaces were visible to bookers.
We quickly found community spaces were struggling to attract and manage bookings
Within the very first week of discussing founding Haveaspot, we spoke with, by chance, with three other people who mentioned the same problem. A Headteacher of a local school who was considering hiring out their school hall, a local business owner who wanted to rent out an event space like they list their holiday let on Airbnb, and a local sports club which was considering closing their tennis court as they could not easily take or manage bookings.
We were determined to find a better solution to meet the needs of community spaces. We wanted to create a platform that was easy to use and affordable for community spaces. We wanted to make it possible for these spaces to list their venues and take bookings online without having to spend a lot of time or money and the solution we came up with is Haveaspot.
